Doraemon Ending Explanation!

The ending of Doraemon has been a hot topic among audiences of all ages around the world. The original manga stopped publishing after Fujimoto’s death in 1996 to give respect to the author, at the end, there’s no official ending to the Doraemon series; this has aroused numerous fan theories throughout the years.

However, there have been various adaptations and spin-offs to the series. One of the most famous “endings” of the manga was by an amateur manga cartoonist under the pen name “Yasue T. Tajima”, first appeared on the internet in 1998 and was made up into the manga in 2005.

The story takes place when one day, Nobita when looking for Doraemon finds him lying dead, he instantly asks for Dorami’s help. She told him that Doraemon’s battery is dead and there was no replacement for his battery in the future yet, the only solution is that they need to add a new battery which will reset all his memories of him. So Nobita decided not to do that. After several years, Nobita grows up to become a robot engineer and creates a replacement battery to potentially revive Doraemon and lives a happy life afterward.

Later, Tajima had to issue an apology in 2007 for continuing the manga without giving credit to the actual owner. The profits were shared with Shogakukan and the copyright owner, Fujiko F. Fujio Pro.

In the animated film “Stand By Me Doraemon 2”, the directors, Ryūichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki, confirmed that the ending has been rewritten several times. Because of this, Shogakukan had to clarify that this ending will happen only if the marriage of Nobita and Shizuka is finalized will the mission be accomplished and then Doraemon will return to the future.
